LinkedIn, Instagram, Messenger and TikTok conversations

Which social channels ClientTurn answers automatically and which it only assists with, how a LinkedIn reply or InMail becomes a conversation, and who sends each message

4 min readUpdated 27 September 2026

Each platform decides what a business may send and whether software may send it. ClientTurn works inside those rules, so the answer to "does ClientTurn send it for me?" is different on each channel.

At a glance

ChannelWho sendsWhat ClientTurn does
Messenger (your Facebook Page)ClientTurn, automaticallyAnswers people who message your Page, within Meta's 24-hour window. Can send one private reply to someone who commented on your post or ad, within seven days of the comment
Instagram (professional account)ClientTurn, automaticallyAnswers your DMs within the 24-hour window. One private reply to a comment or story mention, within seven days
LinkedInYou, from your own accountDrafts connection notes and messages, paces them within your account's limits and records what happened. Never sends
TikTokYou, from your own accountPrepares follows and opening messages for you to send, and records replies you enter. It cannot read TikTok direct messages

TikTok leads from lead-generation ads are a separate thing: they arrive as inbound leads through the TikTok Lead Generation connection. See Getting leads from TikTok lead forms.

Messenger and Instagram: automated, inside Meta's window

When someone messages your Page or Instagram account, the conversation assistant can reply straight away, day or night, and keep qualifying and booking as it would by email or SMS.

Meta only lets a business reply within 24 hours of the person's last message. ClientTurn checks the window immediately before every send, including replies you type yourself:

  • Under 24 hours: the reply is sent, whether the assistant, an automation or you wrote it.
  • 24 hours to 7 days: ClientTurn does not send it, and records why. Only a person may reply now, from Meta Business Suite using Meta's Human Agent tag. ClientTurn does not send with that tag, and the assistant never uses it.
  • Over 7 days: nothing can be sent until they write again.

Meta gives a business no way to follow a person or message someone who has never interacted with it, so these channels work the audience your posts and ads already attract. They are not a cold channel.

When someone asks for a call

On Messenger and Instagram, a request for a call ("can you give me a ring?") is treated as a yes: the assistant offers two real times for a phone call and books the one they pick through your booking setup, marked as a phone call. A meeting type named "Phone call" is used when you have one. It goes to your team only if they ask for a person outright or nothing can be booked. See Reaching the decision maker.

LinkedIn: assisted, because LinkedIn requires it

LinkedIn's User Agreement prohibits bots that add contacts or send messages, and its messaging APIs are open only to approved partners. So on LinkedIn the AI drafts and you send.

  1. Step 1: Open Find Leads → Social. Approved prospects with a LinkedIn profile appear under Ready to invite.
  2. Step 2: Copy the drafted connection note (or write your own), open the profile, and send the request in LinkedIn.
  3. Step 3: Choose Mark as sent. The prospect moves to Waiting on them.
  4. Step 4: When they accept, choose They accepted on the prospect. They move to Ready to message, and ClientTurn drafts the first message for you to send.

A first message to someone who did not contact you carries a short line saying where you found their details. See Telling people where you got their details.

For a sole trader or other individual-type contact, an accepted connection allows one non-promotional opener only: a thank-you or a relevant question, with no offer, price or booking link. ClientTurn checks the draft against that rule before you can send it.

When they reply: from InMail or message to conversation

ClientTurn cannot read your LinkedIn inbox, so a reply only reaches ClientTurn when you bring it in:

  1. Step 1: Find the person's row in the Social queue and choose They replied.
  2. Step 2: Paste what they said and choose Record reply.

From that moment:

  • the sequence stops, and any drafted follow-up that had not been sent is discarded, because they answered;
  • the reply is classified; anything that reads as an opt-out suppresses them on every channel;
  • an interested reply can promote the prospect to a lead, with the whole conversation history attached.

The same applies to an InMail. After sending one in LinkedIn, choose Mark InMail sent in the LinkedIn InMail credits panel. When they answer, choose Reply received there, which returns the credit if the reply came within 90 days, and record the reply itself with They replied so the conversation is in ClientTurn. See LinkedIn Sales Navigator, assisted.

You continue the conversation in LinkedIn itself. Record each reply you get, so the history, stop conditions and opt-outs in ClientTurn stay accurate.

TikTok: assisted, and limited

TikTok only allows a direct message once the account follows you back, publishes no API for reading direct messages, and offers business messaging only in some regions. ClientTurn prepares follows and opening messages, paced slowly, for you to send from your TikTok Business account, and records replies once you enter them. It does not send TikTok messages for you, and it cannot see your TikTok inbox.
